Handmade Wu Chen Yixing Zisha Teapot – Chijin Zini Clay, 130ml
Handmade Wu Chen Yixing Zisha Teapot – Chijin Zini Clay, 130ml
This is a 130 ml wu chen teapot in Chijin Zini Clay, fully handmade, made in Dingshu, Yixing. Its Chinese name is 无尘.
The clay. A zini with a warm, reddish-gold cast in the fired body, sitting between the classic purples and the red clays. Behaves like zini — porous and rounding — but reads warmer in the hand and under tea light.
The form. The Wu Chen form (无尘) dates to the traditional. The name means 'without dust'. A clean, closed, unadorned body. Quiet and self-contained — a form chosen for what it leaves out.
How it was made. Built entirely by hand — the wall is beaten out from a slab and joined without a mould. Inside the body you can still read the tool marks and the joint line, which is how the method is verified.
Size and tea. 130 ml serves two to three people from a single fill, which makes it the most generally useful size on a tea table. Best suited to black tea, ripe pu-erh and roasted oolong.
This pot. Catalogue no. 216, 130 ml, US$85. Photographed individually — the images show the pot you receive.
Made by 胡秀萍. We buy directly from the workshop rather than through a wholesaler, so the attribution comes with the pot.
