Duanni is strongly sandy — more bone than flesh, as potters put it — and among the most breathable bodies in Yixing. Very open. It suits delicate teas where you want lift and clarity rather than weight.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe form.\u003c\/strong\u003e The subject here is chan stillness — in Chinese decorative vocabulary, a Buddhist reading of the form. An original design rather than a version of a canonical form. The maker sets the proportions, the line and the ornament. Judged on its own terms rather than against a classical template.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eHow it was made.\u003c\/strong\u003e Fired in a wood kiln, where flame path and falling ash decide the surface. One person, short infusions, and the small volume means you can push a good leaf through eight or ten steeps without ever brewing more than you drink.
