Handmade Jun Yu Yixing Zisha Teapot – Golden Duanni Clay, 160ml
This is a 160 ml zisha teapot in Golden Duanni Clay, fully handmade, made in Dingshu, Yixing. Its Chinese name is 君玉.
The clay. The duanni that fires brightest — a clear, luminous gold, with an unusually fine and even grain for the family..
The form. This is the Jun Yu form — 君玉 in Chinese. It is one of the many shapes carried in the Dingshu workshops outside the small set of canonical forms, and it is built by the same slab-and-beat method as the classics. We describe what we can verify: the ore, the method and the proportions.
How it was made. Built entirely by hand — the wall is beaten out from a slab and joined without a mould.
Size and tea. At 160 ml this fills three or four cups at once — enough for guests without moving to a full teapot. Best suited to green tea, raw pu-erh and light oolong.
Duanni is pale and open-bodied, so keep it to lighter teas and dry it after use — see how to season a Yixing teapot.
